Why can't MF hussain make use of such incidences from Islamic history rather than letting his senility get better of him. To hindus Sita and Hanuman shared a mother-son relationship . Such denegration is an affront. But we let MF Hussain carry this out and a certain section of "broadminded , secular thinking and forward looking " intellectuals are not only willing to look the other way but also provide active as well tacit support to Mr Hussain . All in the name of "Artistic license" . Unless we suffer from selective amnesia , the same Broadminded intellectuals with secular leanings and proven credentials were crying murder just because the movie "Gaddar" had Sakina as the name of the protagonist who marries a sikh and applies sindoor. If Muslims take this as unacceptable , then how can Hindus be expected to bear with people like MF Hussain?

I personally feel that what Hussain doing is wrong. That old fool who got name and fame of his so called modern art which consists only lines, started thinking as if he is only the wise man on this earth.
But, that fool should realise that what he is painting (specially vulgar hindu godess) is hurting a large mass of people.
If he is so much interested in such paintings then I advise him to paint his Islamic idols pictures in what ever fashion he want to paint.
If I get a chance to meet that bloody fool(MF Hussain), I will slap him with my sandle..

I find your dialogue interesting. One the one hand you are offended my Hussain's paintings because you feel they are hurtful to large masses of hindus. On the other hand, you support the people who feel that cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad are an expression of free speech. There may be many "broadminded" muslims who do not respond violently to those cartoons but there are large masses of muslims who feel that those cartoons are hurtful and expressed their dislike in a violent manner. You expect others to respect your religious sentiment when you don't provide the same respect to their feelings. Remember: Do unto others as you expect done unto you. You won't find respect for your feelings till you respect those of others.
I guess we must learn to respect others religion. Being a Muslim I know what FM Hussain is doing is totally wrong firstly because Islam is modest religion it doesn't allow nudity or its depiction in paintings
secondly Islam teaches us never to insult others' religious/ heroes .
But for the Hindus who dislike FM Hussain's depiction of their heroes only because the Muslims would do the same is simply ridiculous. But it is totally understandable if they are genuinely hurt by it.

I am an Indian nationalist and I find nothing wrong with these paintings. If you don't like them or have gotten offended by them then don't look at them. You have no right to stop people from painting anything just because you find what they paint offensive. Stop acting like Islamic fundamentalists. Hindus can take all this and much more. Durga, Sita and Bharat Mata are secondary when it comes to Hinduism which is nothing but a quest to realize the Truth. Remember, you are not taking away someone else's freedom, but your own.

i dont know why all of you have to persecute this man for his art...its art...only...his potrayal of what he sees...finally hes successful at least to bring through this message that we respect our gods and godesses...the feeling..haterd..beauty...respect...all this is art...this is what art is supposed to do..provoke you..it does..it is not a war against hussain,but its a love towards your own religion..your convinctions..thank the man for bringing it up n you...and as far as nude portrayal of our godesses is concerned...he manipulates the beauty of the female body to portray this...i dont think our godesses ever looked like his paintings...but nor did they have aberrant morphology like 12 hands...or 3 heads..so if we accepted that portrayel of our gods as monsterly beings with anatomical abberations,nudity is really small compared to that!!!

i am somewhat confused about this issue, of course any thing whic offends one religion is totally uneaccepatable.. however, we must understand is that F M hussain lives in india. if the Hindus just look at their history then they will realise that it was once accepted to have their gods seen in nude. clearly it is quite similar when blacks call each other Niggers... but wen someone else calls them they call them racist.. think abt it plzz.
When freedom of expression is curtailed, especially in the arts, all free expression is threatened. Its not about a god or goddess in the nude, its the idea of the beauty of the human form being expressed and connected to the divinity of nature.... why should the state in which we were all born be offensive to anyone? do you think that gods were born with a full set of clothes? this is rubbish... get over this pathetic middle class morality and search the world for better things to worry about.
